Rumor: Microsoft apparently planning to abolish Microsoft Points system

Posted In News - By Wilson On Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 With 0 Comments

2012 could be the last year we see the Microsoft Points system in use if some recently leaked information is anything to go by. According to InsideMobileApps, who apparently received the information from “a source with knowledge of the company’s decision”, Microsoft will be completely removing the online currency over the year so that by the end of 2012 all transactions on products such as Xbox Live, Zune Marketplace, PC, and Windows Phone (in-app purchases), will be made using real money.

This move, if true should calm down some of the aggro Microsoft has been receiving over the years for implementing such a system in the first place, which will usually leave you with extra points you may not even want (or need) due to having to buy points in allotments (800, 1200, 1600, etc.), effectively costing you a few Dollars, Pounds, Euros, etc.
